Black Forest trifle

Quick pud!

Needed to make a pud with no cooking required as my oven went kaaaaput! So I did the following, chocolate cake (which I already had from offcuts of a birthday cake) I cubed it and put into the bottom of a trifle bowl.

A jar of black cherries (can be pie filling, frozen cherries or even jam), I managed to snag some at aldi which were leftover from “American” themed special offers. I put about a third of a jar and some of the juice onto the cake followed by a pack of chocolate angel delight (300ml of milk whisked up with the contents of the packet) and topped with double cream & sprinkles.

Easy peasy when your in a hurry and the kids loved it!

Flying the nest

So my eldest has gone and left home ….. At 18! Who’d of thought I would have such an independent daughter. Most of the weekend and beyond has involved bidding on eBay and cadging free stuff of mates, there are some proper bargains to be had too :)

I even managed to get a brand new fridge for £37 BARGAIN! Where’s the catch you ask, well it does have a few minor dings in it but its going under worktop so you’ll barely see them.

My other half is busy turning her bedroom into an office already, it’s not that he’s pleased to see her go but he is looking forward to having an office with actual light in it (previously he has been working in the downstairs back room affectionately known as the black hole of Calcutta!)

Feeling sad and happy at the same time (happy coz she is happy) definitely not happy to be the only girl in the house now, I’m gonna be outvoted on the TV forever! Lol

Pizza pieces

Getting my youngest son to actually eat a complete meal is quite frankly a chore and a half! He is a picky eater as well as not liking chips or cheese, he actually opts to have carrot sticks with his fish fingers.

So here was the plan, making stars and hearts out of slices of bread and turning them into pizza! The kids did loved them and he didn’t even pick any cheese off them…..result! :)

Weirded out!

So I’m trawling the food network for food recipes, like I do from time to time, when I came across some American breakfast recipes.

My particular favourite out of this category was the one entitled “sausage, gravy & biscuits”, out of disbelief I did check the ingredients just to make sure that gravy isn’t some Americanism for chocolate sauce whilst sausages are surely some sort of granola or oat based biscuit rolled into sausage shapes????

Nope!, good old fashioned pork sausages, gravy and fridge biscuits …… Think ill PASS, thanks all the same :s
